Michael Timmons

"It's kind of just about changes. People kind of growing apart and relationships grow up and
go different ways. That's kind of what that was about and as I've said there is different things
pulled within that song. That's why some of the lyrics might seem a bit weird at times. I really
like playing Material but I can't ever remember sitting down and writing it."

Black and White Boy - The Avenue

"I wouldn't go as far to say that it's the sort of sound I had in my head
before we went into the recording studio but it surpassed that. I had this
sort of sound and idea that it would be really atmospheric and there be
lots of elements to it. I didn't foresee what we would get out of it particularly
songs like 'Captivated'."

"I think I wrote my first song when I was 16 or 17. I didn't really do
much with it I just kind of wrote for pleasure and I didn't think I could
sing, I just kind of wrote them and then hoped someday someone would
sing them."

Black and White Boy - Fragile

“I thought I’ve got an option: I can either just quit, give up even thinking
about doing my own music or I can just work much harder getting better,
persevere with it and I suppose I thought quitting’s not really an option for me
because I just wouldn’t ever allowed myself to do it. I’m not going to be
dramatic and say I’m compelled to write music because I’m not but I would feel a
big gap in my life if I didn’t do it.”

“I suppose I depends what they have heard. I suppose most times when someone asks
you what your music is like you’d say ‘It sounds like’ or ‘It’s got bits of this
and bits of that’. I suppose really I would say it’s country music. It’s a very
basic thing country music. It can be so many different things rather than just
say country music, Americana, singer song-writer.”

“I don’t really get nervous about playing that much anymore. It’s more about
people hearing things that you’ve written that maybe they shouldn’t hear. It’s
like letting strangers read your diary. I find it quite weird that strangers
know things about me that maybe the really shouldn’t know.” Says Robert
Kilpatrick who is the lead singer and guitarist with The Sundance Shatter.
